Aldi has launched a Christmas “recruitment drive” with dozens of jobs being advertised in Leicestershire. The supermarket said it is looking to hire 75 staff in the county.

The supermarket chain says the roles include permanent store positions, with staff wanted in store assistant roles, managerial positions and as cleaners. Aldi claims that starting pay for its store assistants is the “best in the industry” at £12.40 per hour nationally, and £13.65 per hour inside the M25.

Kelly Stokes, recruitment director at Aldi UK, said: "Our mission is to make affordable, high-quality food accessible to everyone, and that is even more important at this time of year. Our colleagues are essential to ensuring Aldi shoppers have a great experience in store, and we’re once again closing our stores on Boxing Day to give them a well-deserved break as a thank you for their dedication.”

Aldi also said the recruitment drive formed part of its 'continued growth plans'. The supermarket chain aims to open a further 17 stores before the end of the year.
