A new "cosy and warm" coffee shop has opened its doors in Leicestershire inside a former bank. Eight jobs have been created as a result of Coffee#1's move - with a free drink on offer for all customers.
The chain's new branch opened today (Friday, February 14) in Ashby's Market Street inside the former Lloyds Bank unit which closed for the final time in 2022. Coffee#1 was founded in 2001 and has spent the last two decades opening up what it says are "locally loved" coffee shops.
Ashby's branch will employ a team of eight people who will run the store. The Market Street location is their second in Leicestershire with another Coffee#1 branch in Loughborough, while there are other outlets in Coventry and Derby.

Beata Grabowska, area manager for Coffee#1, said: "We are delighted to be opening our next coffee shop in Ashby. It’s in a great location with a warm community feel and I am sure Coffee#1 will fit right in. We pride ourselves on creating a cosy space where customers can relax and take their time where they are served great food, delicious cakes, and of course great coffee!”
The interior of the new coffee shop has been described as "warm and vibrant" and has "a living room feel" on its inside. Covering the walls are carefully chosen illustrations depicting local history and shelves packed with books.
Coffee#1 is also dog-friendly too and welcome to any four-legged friends. Community groups are also invited to hold regular coffee meetings and catch-ups at the new store.

Coffee#1's new Ashby coffee shop will be open daily, from 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday, and 9am to 5pm on Sundays. More information can be found online.
