A multi-award winning Bollywood singer is set to perform in Leicester as part of his UK tour this month. Sumeet Tappoo will bring his soulful voice to the city's Sanatan Mandir temple in Weymouth Street, Belgrave, Leicester.
The Fiji-born star, who has recorded more than 70 albums and singles, will be joined by an acclaimed line-up including Indian Idol star Kiran Vinkar on flute and veteran guitarist Rishi Shankar, said organisers. The Leicester date marks the opening night of his Heart to Heart UK tour, which also includes dates in Birmingham, Hertfordshire and London.
Mr Tappoo, who is based in Mumbai, has recently added two more prestigious Indian music awards to his collection. The singer has performed at more than 1,100 concerts globally.

All proceeds from the tour will support free healthcare in India said promoters, through The Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Mother and Child Hospitals and Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Centres for Child Heart Care. Tappoo's philanthropic work has earned him both the Fiji Presidential Medal and the USA Presidential Volunteer Service Medal.
"I'm truly excited to be able to perform these devotional songs for a UK audience, and I can't wait to be up on stage singing bhajans for those who know me and those who have never seen me in concert before," said Mr Tappoo.
The Leicester concert takes place on Friday, February 14, at Sanatan Mandir, Weymouth Street. Tickets are priced at £20 and can be purchased through Eventbrite. Children under 10 go free. The tour then continues to West Bromwich, Potters Bar and Hounslow before heading to Europe.
