If your home is plagued by pests like spiders, ants and fleas then you probably know how expensive extermination services can be. Luckily there are some simple and cheap household remedies that can help get rid of creepy crawlies in your home.
Joshua Houston, the Pest Control Expert at Household Quotes has revealed five household remedies that help prevent pests.
The first remedy is one that is almost completely free - coffee grounds.
By using the leftover coffee grounds from your morning cup of coffee and sprinkling it in pest prone areas of your garden you can help eliminate pests. Insects hate the smell and so will stay away. You can also use it in your home in the corners and cracks where insects commonly appear. This will cost you nothing as you’d already be using the coffee, and is better for the environment due to the recycling.

If you suffer with ants in your home then white vinegar can be a good way to stop them. By mixing white vinegar, water and peppermint oil together and spraying the trails where you see ants, you will eliminate the scent trail ants leave for others.
This will eventually stop them coming back.
If you’re scared of spiders then you know the panic of seeing one scurry across the floor or even worse, lurking in a corner above your bed. If spiders are a problem in your home then you can try cutting an onion and leaving it in a bowl of water in the area you most often see the spiders and the smell should keep them away.
For pests on your plants you can try mixing some dish soap with water and spraying it on the leaves of your plants to get rid of aphids, mealybugs and beetles.
Finally, if your beloved pets are bringing fleas into your home but you don’t want to use a chemical laden flea bomb, salt can be a good alternative. Sprinkle salt on your carpet or furniture where you have seen fleas or flea eggs and leave it for a day. After a day, you can vacuum it up and the fleas as well as their eggs should have dehydrated and died.
