Drivers are being warned that they will face a three-mile diversion because of essential roadworks in Leicestershire. Closures linked to the roadworks are set to be in place for several weeks too.
The warning has been issued to drivers using Barroon in Castle Donington - one of the main routes through the market town. Leicestershire County Council is putting place a road closure on public safety grounds between numbers 19 and 31, cutting off access to all drivers.
The restrictions will be in place up to the junction of Wakefield Court. The county council said the closure will be in place to enable National Grid Electricity Distribution to carry out substation works.

The council has warned that due to the nature of the works, a full closure will be in place. Excavations will also be involved meaning there will be no through route for emergency services.
A diversion route spanning more than three miles has been issued for the roadworks. The county council said drivers should go via Hemington Hill, from Church Lane to Hemington Hill, Main Street, Rycroft Road, Sawley Junction, Hemington, Station Road, Hillside, The Hollow, Castle Donington and vice versa.
The closure will begin on Monday (February 24), with the county council warning it is set to last for three weeks. More information, including on the diversion, can be found on the one.network website.
