An e-bike rider has been charged with a string of drugs and weapon offences after being stopped by police in Leicester city centre. Officers made the arrest while looking for people riding e-scooters and illegal, high-powered, e-bikes in High Street.
Leicestershire Police said the rider had been charged with dealing heroin, crack cocaine and cannabis, and possession of a machete and a knuckle duster. The rider's illegal e-bike will now be scrapped, as part of Operation Pedalfast, which aims to rid the city's streets of e-scooters and illegal e-bikes.
The force said: "This is an example of why we will tackle the use of these illegal electric cycles.
