Bella Ramsey's long-awaited return to The Last of Us has been confirmed following the announcement of season two's air date. It had already been confirmed the seven-episode spectacular will debut on Sky and streaming service NOW in April, but bosses have now revealed the exact air date.

The Last of Us is based on the popular PlayStation video game franchise of the same name developed by Naughty Dog, and follows Ellie (played by Bella Ramsey) and Joel (played by Pedro Pascal) as they navigate a post-apocalyptic world. Season two takes place five years after the events of the first season which was universally acclaimed by viewers and critics alike.

Bella, who studied acting at Loughborough’s Stagecoach Theatre, and Pedro's characters will be "drawn into conflict" with one another in a world that is "even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind." Both Ellie and Joel will find themselves right at home in the Wyoming settlement founded by Tommy, but the world around them continues to be ravaged by the Cordyceps infection.

A spanner is then thrown in the works when a face from Joel's past rears their head once again, but this time to cause chaos and force the duo back into the fight for survival. Viewers are urged to prepare for tension, jump scares and heartbreak.

New posters teasing the events of season two have been released too, with the tagline 'every path has a price'. Bella and Pedro are not the only returning cast members to the Emmy Award-winning show, with Gabriel Luna back as Tommy and Rutina Wesley as Maria. Guest stars for the new season include Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Danny Ramirez as Manny, Jeffrey Wright as Isaac, and Home Alone star Catherine O'Hara, whose role is unknown.

Sky has confirmed that The Last of Us season two will air on Sky and on NOW from Monday, April 14. The first season is available to stream right now.
