Drivers are being warned of potential disruption ahead of the Leicester 10k's return. A number of confirmed road closures and restrictions are in place, with organisers warning of possible inconvenience to many.

The Leicester 10k return on Sunday, March 2 and will welcome runners of all abilities and experience levels to the city. Thousands are expected to take part, with the race beginning at Jubilee Square before making its way through the beautiful greenery of Victoria Park.

After passing through the University of Leicester, as well as many popular landmarks including Leicester Cathedral, participants will then head back for a grand finish. However, due to the crowds of people expected in Leicester for the event, and to ensure health and safety for those taking part, a number of road closures and Traffic Regulation Orders are required.

These will take place between 5am and 1pm on the day of the 10k. Warnings are also in place as there are some parking suspensions from 4pm on Saturday, March 1 to 1pm on Sunday, March 2.

Road closures around Jubilee Square will begin at 5am, with the rest of the closures on route to be enforced from 8.15am. The final closures of the route will be re-opened at 11.30am, with Jubilee Square re-opened for 1pm.

Tristan Batley-Kyle from Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All, who organise the event, said: "We look forward to welcoming participants of all abilities to take on the Leicester 10K. Unfortunately, with an event of this size, a certain amount of disruption is unavoidable, and we would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused. We will work extremely hard to ensure that the road closures are lifted as soon as possible and thank you for your patience and cooperation."
