Strike action at Leicestershire's KP Snacks plant has been suspended amid new talks over pay. Staff had previously voted "overwhelmingly" in favour of a walk-out as part of their dispute with bosses.
Members of the Usdaw union at the Ashby factory had voted in favour of the walk-out following a final offer of a 6.5 per cent pay increase by KP Snacks last month. Usdaw - the Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers, the UK's fifth biggest trade union and had previously said KP bosses should return to the negotiating table to strike a "fair deal".
Usdaw had threatened that its members would walk out on Monday (December 9) if negotiations did not restart. In its latest update, the union said strike action had been suspended after KP had restarted talks with officials.

Ed Leach, Usdaw area organiser, said work had been ongoing for several days to reach an "acceptable" offer. He said the talks meant strike action was suspended for the time being.
He said: “Over the last few days, Usdaw has been in negotiations with KP Snacks in an attempt to reach an offer which we believe is acceptable to our members and find a resolution to the current pay dispute. Usdaw has therefore agreed to suspend current plans for industrial action.”
