A Leicestershire man was arrested on suspicion of drug offences after being stopped by police. A second man has been charged in connection with the incident.

The 30-year-old, from Loughborough, was arrested by officers from Derbyshire Police following the stop of a Ford Mondeo in Pinxton's Town Street at around 11.30am on Wednesday, February 6. Officers said the man, who has not been named, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs after drugs were found in the vehicle.

In a statement, police said the Leicestershire man has been released on police bail while enquiries continue. A spokesperson said a second man had been charged in relation to the police stop.

Officers said Matthew Nelmes, of Hillcrest Close, Watnall, Nottingham, was charged with possession with intent to supply heroin and crack cocaine and production of cannabis. Police said a cannabis grow was found at an address in Watnall.

Nelmes, 52, appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court on Thursday, February 7, where he was remanded into custody. He is set to return to court at a later date.
