A couple's mission to drink in every pub in Britain has seen two Leicestershire pubs named amongst Britain's best. Dale and Holly Harvey have already covered more than 5,100 venues out of approximately 45,800 watering holes across the UK.

Dale, 39, and Holly, 33, spend four days every week visiting pubs across the country as part of their nationwide challenge. The pair, from Nottingham, began their journey almost three years ago as pubs across the nation struggle to stay open.

The Brew in Ashby and the Pharmacie Arms in Syston have both made it onto Dale's top 10 list of favourite boozers. According to the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), their mission comes as 29 pubs are closing every week across Britain.

"It's not about me going on a jolly or wanting to go around getting drunk," said former pub owner Dale. "We get landlords telling us they've had an influx of people visiting them because of our videos documenting our journey."

The couple broke their previous record of visiting 27 pubs in one day when they managed 42 venues on Christmas Eve in Nottingham. During their travels, they've found pints ranging from £1.39 in a West Midlands Wetherspoons to £8 for an "average" pint in some areas.

Dale says pubs are vital community hubs and should not be forgotten by the public. He said: "Pubs are the heartbeat of the community and so many people tell me they are their lifeline - it's a place where especially older people can get social interaction."

Dale's favourite pubs:

1 - Dog and Parrot, Eastwood, Nottingham
2 - Brew, Ashby, Leicestershire
3 - Pharmacie Arms, Syston, Leicestershire
4 - Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, Brewhouse Yard, Nottingham
5 - Te Olde Fighting Cocks, St Albans, Hertfordshire
6 - Paten & Co, Stamford, Lincolnshire
7 - The Ned Ludd, Nottingham
8 - Bunny Jackson's, Manchester
9 - The Ten Bells, Spitalfields, London
10 - The Blind Beggar, Whitechapel, London
