A man has been arrested following a collision on a major Leicestershire road in the early hours of this morning (Friday, February 28). Leicestershire Police said the incident involved a black BMW 4 Series which crashed into trees on the central reservation of the A50 Groby Road, near Glenfield.
Officers were alerted to the incident at around 1.20am today, when they were approached by the driver of a blue car as they were travelling along New Parks Way approaching the roundabout with the A50 Groby Road. The driver informed police that a car had been involved in a collision.
Leicestershire Police said officers travelled to the reported location and discovered the crashed BMW close to the junction with Glenfield Frith Drive. Police are now appealing for witnesses to the collision, particularly the driver of the blue vehicle who alerted them to the incident.

A 49-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of refusing to provide a breath sample, said police. He remains in police custody.
A spokesperson for the force said: "Officers are trying to trace a driver who may have been a possible witness to a road traffic collision in Glenfield." They added: "We would ask this person or anyone who may have information about the incident to please get in touch."
