The new owners for "financially unsustainable" Co-op stores have been revealed. Seven sites across Leicestershire are set to close as part of the nationwide move.

Central Co-op confirmed the closure of seven of its county stores on Friday (November 8). They are part of 19 across the country that are closing after bosses said they were no longer sustainable.

Among those affected are two sites in Leicester and a clutch of others spread around Leicestershire itself. Central Co-op, which runs the stores, says six of the seven sites are being sold to Samy Ltd, while the seventh is being leased to bargain retailer B&M.
