While most of us dream of spotless bathrooms, the reality can be quite different. Bathrooms' warm and damp conditions around the shower and sink areas provide an ideal breeding ground for black mould.
Not only is it unsightly, but it can also trigger health issues, particularly for those with respiratory problems. However, before you spend money on expensive mould removers, there's a homemade solution worth trying that requires just three ingredients.
This tip was shared on TikTok by cleaning influencer Anna Louisa at Home, who has amassed over 1.2 million followers thanks to her simple home organisation remedies.
She claims that mould can be eradicated using three common household items, and not only does this method remove the harmful substance, but it also prevents its return, reports the Express.

To create your own mould cleaning solution, you'll need one cup of bicarbonate of soda, half a cup of hydrogen peroxide, and one teaspoon of washing up liquid. Combine all these ingredients in a spray bottle or container until fully mixed.
Then, generously apply the cleaner to any areas of mould in the bathroom, such as shower tiles, grout, taps, and handles.
After allowing the mixture to soak into the mould for approximately 20 minutes, wipe it clean and you should find your surfaces gleaming once more.
The effectiveness of these ingredients in eliminating mould is due to their unique properties. Baking soda has a pH of approximately 8-8.1, which is too high for mould to survive, making it an excellent natural disinfectant, as per the experts at EnviroVent.
Hydrogen peroxide can also aid in killing and preventing mould growth on solid surfaces. However, it may bleach them, so ensure it is thoroughly cleaned off after letting the mixture sit.
In addition, to prevent mould, you can improve ventilation, dry surfaces, and use mould-resistant materials.
If your mould issue is particularly severe, it's advisable not to attempt to handle it yourself, but to seek professional help.
