A woman was injured and several dogs were seized after police were called to reports of animals fighting in a Leicestershire street. A large police presence was spotted near Hinckley last night (Thursday, February 27) as officers responded to the incident.

Police were called to Farm Road, in Burbage, at 5.19 pm following reports of three dogs loose in the area. The animals were reportedly fighting in an open space off the residential street, a Leicestershire Police spokeswoman said.

Video footage showed multiple police vehicles in attendance. A local resident told LeicestershireLive that officers remained at the scene until at least 7.30pm.

The dogs were secured before police arrived at the scene, when they were seized by officers. One of the animals is currently receiving treatment for injuries sustained during the incident, said a police spokeswoman.

"The force was called at 5.19pm to report a number of dogs loose in the area of Farm Road, Burbage," she said. "The initial report was that three dogs were in an area of open space off Farm Road and were attacking each other."

She added: "A woman sustained a minor injury to her wrist. The dogs were secured prior to police arrival and have been seized. One is being treated for its injuries."
